The use of the Barcelona Card and the Barcelona Card Express is very simple and makes your stay in Barcelona easier.

Validity of the Barcelona Card/Barcelona Card Express

The Barcelona Card is valid for 3, 4 or 5 consecutive calendar days. The calendar day ends at midnight respectively. This is why we suggest validating the Card in the morning of the first day of use to make sure you maximize the benefits. The card is valid for one person.

The Barcelona Card Express is valid for two consecutive calendar days.

Validating the card

At booking you don't need to choose a specific date on which the card is valid. Simply endorse the date of first usage on the front of the card, it will be valid from this day on. Additionally the card is activated by the reading device at the entrance of some sights.

The Hola BCN! ticket, issued with your Barcelona Card and Barcelona Card Express is a multi day ticket for the public transport. It will be activated with the first use of metro, bus or tram.

Using the Barcelona Card/Barcelona Card Express

With the Barcelona Card and Barcelona Card Express you receive free admission to over 25 museums and sights as well as discounts at over 70 sights in Barcelona. To use the free admission, simply show your Barcelona Card or Barcelona Card Express at the entrance of the museum or hold it to the reading device some museums have available. To receive a discount at sights, please show your Barcelona Card or Barcelona Card Express at the box office.

At restaurants show your Barcelona Card or Barcelona Card Express to the waiter before ordering, at shops before paying.

Use ticket for public transport

With the Barcelona Card Express and Barcelona Card you get the Hola BCN! ticket. With this you can use public transport for 2, 3, 4 or 5 consecutive calendar days.

The Hola BCN! Ticket is valid for the subway (metro), TMB buses, trams, inner-city trains, funicular to the Montjuïc, bus 46, metro line L9, and the train from and to the airport of Barcelona.

Not included are the Bus Turístic, taxis, and the Nit buses. Since ticket is valid in the urban area and to the airport Barcelona, ​​not for trips outside the city and to the airports Girona and Reus.

Use of the Hola BCN ticket in the metro and trains

As soon as you want to use the metro, you must insert the Hola BCN! Ticket into the access control. The arrow on the ticket indicates the direction. The ticket is then output at the top of the machine. The green arrow at the machine indicates the side on which the turnstile or door is opened. When changing to aother metro line, you do not have to put the ticket into a machine.

This works the same way in the train stations, but you must also put the ticket into the control when leaving the station. Please note that the trains also continue outside the scope of the Hola BCN! You must then disembark or buy a ticket for the next zone.

Use of the Hola BCN ticket in the tram and the buses

In the tram or on the buses you have to put the ticket into the canceling machine in the bus. This at every trip, even if the ticket is still valid longer.

In case of problems

Should this card or the magnetic strip be defective, you will receive a replacement at one of the issuing offices.
